Britney Spears recently finished off her four-year residency contract in Las Vegas, where she was performing at Planet Hollywood’s Axis Theatre. Her residency ended on New Year’s Eve, but despite the long-term deal with Planet Hollywood, Britney Spears isn’t ready to leave Las Vegas behind. New reports have started to surface indicating that the pop star has signed a new residency deal with MGM for 2019.
Britney Spears Offered MGM Residency
The report of the new residency contract between Britney Spears and MGM came from US Weekly. She will apparently be performing at The Park Theatre, which can hold 5300 people. The theatre is currently being renovated, along with the entire MGM Monte Carlo property. US Weekly is reporting that Britney Spears has already signed the contract with MGM. However, a spokesperson for MGM said that they don’t respond to rumors and speculation.
While performing at Planet Hollywood, Britney Spears sold over $135 million worth of tickets during her 249 shows. Caesars never revealed what they paid Britney for each of her shows, but it is believed she earned around $500 000 for each 90-minute performance. We don’t really know what the MGM deal will be worth, but it was apparently an offer that Britney couldn’t refuse.
MGM’s Push for Younger Visitors
MGM has been putting a significant amount of effort into attracting younger visitors to its locations. Currently, MGM Monte Carlo is undergoing a $450 million renovation that will see is split into two hotels. MGM has also been signing residency deals with numerous artists that are popular with younger generations. Recently, a deal was signed with Lady Gaga, while there are also deals in place with Bruno Mars, Cher, and Ricky Martin.
MGM was also pursuing a deal with Adele, as she would appeal to younger and older visitors, but nothing has come from that at this time. It is thought that Adele is considering some offers, but it’s all just speculation at this stage.
