DraftKings AnnouncementDraftKings has formally announced a new partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling in an effort to promote responsible gambling. In a press release the popular betting platform, DraftKings, stated that the intention of the partnership was to assist the council on their current efforts. One of the initiatives that have been implemented by the NCPG is the Safer Sports Betting programme designed to ensure that online betting platforms are abiding by the Internet Responsible Gambling Standards.

DraftKings and other platforms alike can benefit from the efforts of the council by ensuring that they implement suitable practices for all internet gambling activities. There is a clear need for initiatives like this to be implemented. This is because the council has stated that an estimated two million US adults struggle with gambling addiction. According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, the numbers may be worse if other factors are considered.

DraftKings Pleased with New Mutually Beneficial Partnership

During the announcement, DraftKings also highlighted that they had become a platinum-level member at the Council. Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, Keith Whyte, said the new partnership will bring in a new era in problem gambling awareness. Whyte further stated that they were excited to work on the betting platform which would help them “mutually understand behavioural patterns of players and by-so-doing reduce the risk of problem gambling”.

Chief Compliance Officer of DraftKings, Tim Dent, said the company was “proud to partner with a leading responsible gaming organization like the NCPG to ensure our internal efforts are informed by independent experts”.

New Board for National Council on Problem Gambling

Prior to the announcement of the new partnership between the NCPG and DraftKings the council announced a new panel of board members on its advisory panel. The new board’s duty will be to provide input on the various systems that can be implemented to tackle problem gambling.

With the new advisory board in place as well as the new partnership with DraftKings it’s safe to say that efforts to tackle problem gambling in the US are in full effect.
