It’s hard to escape how popular the HBO show Game of Thrones has become. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying the incredible popularity the show has acquired. Unfortunately, this massive popularity has led to some people being unwilling to wait and see how the next episode or season will end. This has meant that the Game of Thrones has suffered numerous leaks during the course of the seventh season due to unknown hackers. This has been very bad news for Game of Thrones fans around the world, as they have to try even harder to avoid spoilers, but it’s also been bad for bookies who allow people to bet on the show.

HBO suffered a hack in late July 2017, with scripts for upcoming episodes being stolen. The hackers demanded HBO pay a fee or their information would be leaked. The script for the fourth episode, “The Spoils of War”, was leaked online days before the episode aired and the entire episode was leaked. The script for episode five “Eastwatch” was also available on the Internet before the episode aired.
While this has annoyed many fans, who are trying to avoid spoilers, it has also caused problems for the bookies that allow viewers to bet on the show. In fact, these leaks have caused many bookies to stop offering some of the more imaginative bets that could be placed on the show.
Game of Thrones bets -Who Will Win?
While the more imaginative bets have been called off due to the leaks, viewers can still bet on unspoiled aspects of the show, such as who will be the overall winner. Currently, Jon Snow is the favorite to ‘win’ the show with odds of 5/2. However, Daenerys Targaryan is not far behind with 7/2.
Before the leaks, viewers could place many more bets such as which character they thought would get killed off next, or who would be the one to kill Cersei. Bovada has been running bets on the show since 2015 and is very sad that the leaks have caused an end to the bets it can offer. However, bookies should be able to offer more betting options during the final season, provided there aren’t any further leaks.
