The Indian Gaming Commission has announced that it has approved the PointsBet sports betting license. The official online launch of the Australian sportsbook is yet to be confirmed. PointsBet has received a temporary license to operate in Indiana. PointsBet has already broken ground in states such as New Jersey as well as Iowa where it offers a mobile sports betting platform with an additional retail sportsbook in Iowa.
Indiana isn’t the first state to reach an agreement with PointsBet. Other states include Colorado, Michigan as well as Illinois. According to Patrick Eichner, Director of Communications at PointsBet, there has been no official date set for the launch of the Indiana betting platform. The Sports betting platform will be affiliated to Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg. The partnership between the two forms part of a 20-year contract that the sportsbook signs with Penn National Gaming, for which 5.3% of PointsBet was acquired by Penn’s interactive Gaming subsidiary. Because of this deal with PNG PointsBet has the right to operate in West Virginia, Missouri, Louisiana as well as Ohio should sports be legalized in these states.
PointsBet among Many Other Operators Launching in Indiana
In the last month alone, PointsBet is the third sports betting platform to get approved by the Indiana Gaming Commission. Two other operating licenses were issued to Roar Digital as well as BetIndiana. Roar Digital operates BetMGM and BetIndiana will have affiliation with Spectacle Entertainment, however, bettors should note that both these licensees are not yet operational in the state.

In December 2018, PointsBet entered the US market following an operational license being granted to the company by the state of New Jersey. PointsBet makes use of a system known as “Karma Kommittee”. How it works is that they review losing bets and other factors to decide whether a refund should be made or if credit should be given to bettors.
