A gambler has filed a lawsuit against renowned gambling center Encore Boston Harbor Casino. The complainant claims that Encore casino cheat him out of his money by breaching gambling rules. Fuming from losing his money, the gambler alleged that the casino’s blackjack games by-passed state rules and subsequently put players at an unfair disadvantage. The class-action was filed in Middlesex Superior Court, but the casino has vehemently denied the allegations, stating that it follows the regulations prescribed by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Class-Action Lawsuit Against Encore Casino
The Encore Boston Harbor Casino is fairly new, and attracting bad press does not bode well for its reputation in the future. A New Yorker by the name of A. Richard Schuster claims that the odds on the blackjack table had been manipulated in the casino’s favour. Traditionally, blackjack tables on the casino floor ought to payout at 3-2 odds. The tables at Encore casino apparently paid 6-5 odds instead. According to state law, casinos are permitted to set the 6-5 payout odds, granted they meet the set-out conditions.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission to Discuss Lawsuit
The MGC gave a verdict on Thursday, asserting that Encore Casino did not violate state regulations with its blackjack tables. According to the state regulator, the casino is well within its rights to lower the 6-to-5 payout at the casino. This was not the only charge levied at the Encore Boston Harbor casino. There were also claims that it failed to provide full refunds to players on the casino floor. The machines on the casino floor only payout in whole dollar value, with no adequate recourse for players to take on getting the change. The alternative is to head to the cashiers that dispense the cash, however, that process tends to be tedious. We wait to see how the case will unfold; however, you can keep your dial locked to discover the latest gambling news in the USA.
