Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino in Nevada announced that it will relaunch its sports betting app later this week. The app was temporarily discontinued mid-March following the eruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. Existing sports book members will be able to place bets again on Thursday from 09h00am. All financial transactions like deposits and withdrawals will be handled through the app.
Westgate Las Vegas app to Operate Under Strict Regulations
The reopening of the sports book app will take place under rules that all customers must adhere to. Vice President of the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, Jay Kornegay, told reporters that the service will only run for eight hours every day. He added that new customers cannot create an account with the sportsbook until its land-based sportsbook venue has been given the go-ahead to reopen. In a statement, the Vice President said that the re-launch of the online sports book is an energy boost for everyone”. He also said that they are glad to be back.
Initial Closure Result of Pandemic
Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino along with many other casinos were ordered to shut their doors on March 17. This is because the government declared a national lockdown because of the virus. Only four online sports books in Nevada were excluded from the shutdown and could continue operating. Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino was not one of those casinos.
The coronavirus crisis has disrupted many other businesses all around the world. Those businesses that have the resources to offer their services online have been encouraged to do so. The way forward in the midst of the crisis remains unclear. The state of Nevada has 5491 cases at the time of publishing and 266 fatalities.
