Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino has unveiled a new poker room as part of their plan to renovate the casino and racetrack. They plan to attract more players to the casino while discouraging competitors. The poker room is a World Series of Poker (WSOP) branded and it was unveiled on Friday. However, players were allowed in the poker room back in February. Back then the casino officials felt that they needed a grand opening that would be fitting. Hence, they had to schedule it for the past Friday.
About the WSOP Poker Room
Harrah’s Philadelphia’s poker room will have 27 poker tables with much more space. The casino had a poker room before, but now it was located on the same floor where race bets were made. They have now rebranded the room and moved it to the gaming floor. There is also a giant projection screen, sixteen 55-inch televisions and a text to mobile food ordering service. Players will be able to enjoy no-limit tables.
The casino also plans on hosting poker tournaments in the future. When they do host poker tournaments, they will add the 28th table for the final round.
Chris Albrecht, Senior President and General Manager of Harrah’s Philadelphia, was there to cut the ribbon saying that they are excited to have a permanent home for poker teams and a self-contained poker room.
Other Amenities from Harrah’s Philadelphia Renovation Plan
Harrah’s Philadelphia was initially launched as a slots-only casino and had been operating that way for 12 years. They were also Pennsylvania’s top-earning slots-only casino. However, as the gambling industry in the state grew, Harrah’s Philadelphia had to find a way to keep up as they were now also experiencing a decline in their revenue.
As a result, they had to work on improving their facility to not only attract new players but to keep away the competition. Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack is still undergoing renovations. As part of the transformations, a sportsbook was launched earlier this year, and before the launch of the poker room, they launched the Topgolf facility.
