Boyd & FanDuel Launch Four Sportsbooks in Iowa

Boyd Gaming and FanDuel announced their partnership back in August of 2018. They are now working together to introduce sports betting services to the states that Boyd Gaming has licenses. Their latest sportsbooks launch happened at Indiana and Iowa. The sportsbooks will be located at four casinos with two in each state.

They plan to take advantage of the regulated athletic betting that was recently introduced in the states. The locations for the sportsbooks in Indiana are at the Belterra Casino Resort in Florence and the Blue Chip Casino Hotel and Spa in Michigan City. In Iowa, the locations are at the Diamond Jo Casinos in Dubuque and Northwood.

The two partners are also planning on introducing mobile betting in both the sates. However, this will only happen once the regulatory approvals are done. Through this partnership, the plan is to capitalize on the legalization and expansion of betting on sports in various states, Boyd CEO, Keith Smith said. Currently, the casino operator has gaming licenses at 15 states in the US which makes up to over 36% of the USA population.

Football Celebrities the First to Place Bets

To seal the deal and launch of the sportsbooks, Boyd and FanDuel have four football celebrities at the casinos. One was located each of the casinos and placed the first bets at the sportsbook. They invited Brian Urlacher, Chicago linebacker, at the Blue Chip and he was the first to make the first bet. Others include John Randle, Minnesota’s defensive end, at Diamond Jo Northwood, Antonio Freeman, Green Bay wide receiver, at Diamond Jo Dubuque and Ken Anderson, Cincinnati’s quarterback, at Belterra Resort.

FanDuel CEO, Matt King, said working with Boyd to launch the four sportsbooks in such a short time was an incredible achievement. A Boyd exec added that the gaming operator is a key partner and will continue to offer their services nationwide. To bring FanDuel’s sports betting experience.

Before the launch of these four sportsbooks, Boyd had launched a retail location in Pennsylvania. However, it was only open until March, and it was located at the Valley Forge Casino Resort, which is one of Boyd’s locations. Together with FanDuel, they launched a mobile betting app back in July which is available for iOS devices.
