The Gaming Control Board (GCB) remains confident that their motion to charge Steve Wynn for his alleged sexual harassment offences has good legal standing. This follows Wynn’s counter-motion to dismiss the complaints levelled against him, using the fact that he’s no longer involved in gambling as his defence. The Control Board submitted five-count complaints in total through the state attorney general’s office. The Nevada Gaming Commission will hold a hearing next month on December 19. However, it will give Wynn until December 9 to reply to the Control Board’s complaint.

Gaming Control Board Files Complaints Against Steve Wynn

In October, the Nevada Gaming Control Board filed a motion against Steve Wynn stating that the casino mogul’s behavior violated the “suitability” of owning a casino license in Las Vegas. Wynn’s lawyer’s rebuttal asserted that the founder of Wynn Resorts is no longer involved in the gambling industry anymore.

Gaming Control Board Still Pursuing Charges Against Wynn

The 13-page complaint included a request from the Nevada Gaming Commission to fine Wynn. The penalty is for several sexual misconduct claims which the board of the casino was made aware of. Since the allegations first came to light back in January 2018, several women found their voice and it is alleged that hush-money was paid to keep some employees quiet.

Nevada Gaming Commission Investigates Wynn

The Nevada Gaming Commission followed in the footsteps of the gambling regulator in Massachusetts and opened an investigation into the charges levelled against Wynn. As a result, Wynn has had to pay a fine of US$35 million. If the GCB gets their way, he might have to pay more than that. Following the insistence by the Gaming Control Board that they have a case, we wait with bated breath to see what the investigation yields.
