Las Vegas Casinos aid UNLV in funding Hospitality Hall

The University of Nevada Las Vegas, UNLV, has nearly completed the construction of its new Hospitality Hall. The project cost a reported $59 million, and the 93 500-square foot hall was made possible thanks to the contributions of many of the top Las Vegas casinos. The casinos contributed to the construction costs as an investment in the future, as many future staff would have likely received training at UNLV.

Not Possible Without the Casinos

UNLV received around $24.4 million dollars for the construction project from the Nevada government. However, this figure fell well short of the required funds to build a new home for the university’s world-class hospitality program. Had the top casinos in Las Vegas not stepped forward, the new Hospitality Hall may have never been possible.

In order to meet the required funding, many of the casinos stepped forward. Some of the casinos and gaming companies that donated money includes Caesars, Las Vegas Sands, MGM Resorts, Boyd Gaming, Station Casinos, and Konami Gaming. Each of these donated $2.5 million, or more, and will now be considered, Hospitality Hal Founders. The university also received additional donations from the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott and Engelstad family foundations. These foundations also donated $2.5 million each towards the project.

Th biggest donator to the UNLV Hospitality Hall was Las Vegas Sands. This firm pledged $7 million to UNLV back in 2014.

UNLV offers plenty for Hospitality students

The new Hospitality Hall is located in the heart of Las Vegas, right next to the famous strip. It will be able to teach around 2500 students every year and will provide them with some of the best training possible, ensuring that they are adequately prepared for the hospitality industry.
