Louisiana to Open Casino Doors Starting on Monday

Breaking news has it that casinos can start opening in the coming week after the coronavirus pandemic affected business. Louisiana gaming industry will permit 23 casinos to begin operating on Monday. This takes place after companies had to shut down on the 17th of March.

In America, Louisiana has a lucrative casino market following Pennsylvania, New York Nevada and New Jersey. This is according to Bloomberg news. Louisiana has 20 commercial casinos and three tribal ones that made revenues of above $2.56 billion for 2018. On the other hand, the state was able to get $607.7 million in taxes from the sector.

Health Measures Enforced in Louisiana

There are still a few steps that the casinos have to consider before officially getting back to business. Ronnie Jones, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman stated that the casinos will need approval from local authorities to start. The companies planning to open must follow the new rules which involve good hygiene measures.

It’s clear to see that these regulations aim to avoid the spread of COVID-19. These health protocols include giving employees protective equipment such as face masks and cleaning surfaces, slot machines regularly.
