One of the casinos in the USA is currently facing a backlash from the last people they’d expect – their employees. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the employees of Florida Eldorado Resorts property located in the South of Florida have been threatening to go on strike.

Florida Eldorado Employees Threaten to Strike

The employees at Pompano Beach, owned by Florida Eldorado have cast their votes 93% in favor of striking during a voting session that was held on the 5th and 6th of July. They stated the reason for their strike as “Employee dissatisfaction and frustration with the property’s constant reduction to amenities and staff levels for guests.”

Details on the Florida Eldorado Employees Strike

Florida Eldorado bought Pompano Beach from the isle of Capri Casinos in May 2017, and at that time, they almost laid off about 80 union workers immediately. If there’s any truth in the employees’ statement, there have been cutbacks on staff from the time of purchase due to lack of innovation from top-level administrators. The strike is untimely sad news for Florida Eldorado that just recently agreed to a significant partnership with Caesars Entertainment in the hopes of potentially becoming the United States’ biggest casino operator.

It is reported that Eldorado Resorts will be paying approximately USD$18 billion for it to merge with Caesars Entertainment. This means that it will be having 51% of control over the merged deal. If this merger comes through as everyone’s hopes and expects it to, the CEO of Florida Eldorado Tom Reeg – feels that it is exactly what the casino needs and that the partnership will be of great value to all shareholders of both companies.

However, there have been speculations that this deal might just create cost savings sooner than expected and this means that the leaders of the newly merged company will be forced to make more future cuts.

Overview

If Florida Eldorado Resorts is considering cutting costs at any moment in time, it’s to no surprise that all these employees are fed up and weary of this routine; hence why they are now taking action. After seeing what Eldorado Resorts might do after the casino is bought out, the employees from the Isle Casino Pompano Park have already started speaking up as well, so that they may keep their jobs.
