This week, life will no longer be the same for Indiana residents. The state will be launching its very first online sportsbook, giving sports fans an opportunity to bet on their favorite teams. On Wednesday, the Indiana Gaming Commission announced that it approved the mobile app launch for the first sportsbook operator, Rush Street Interactive, based in Chicago. Punters will now have access to retail and online sports wagering through their services. The application alone is scheduled to start running on October 3, 2019.

About the Mobile Sports Betting App & Other Bookies in Indiana

Rush Street’s mobile sports betting app will be in all corners of the state. The company operates the retail sportsbook at the French Lick Resort located in the south. And, unlike in other states, bettors will not be required to sign up at the store first in order to download and start using the betting app.

Most retail sportsbooks in Indiana started operating on September 1, only the French Lick Resort started on September 6. More so, thirteen of the fourteen casinos, off-track betting venues and racinos have opened their land-based locations. Operators such as the Hotel in Gary and Majestic Star are in the process of moving in-land and so far, have applied for sports betting licenses. The bookies, however, plan to only operate online sports betting services.

Indiana joins other states such as Nevada, Iowa, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Rhode Island and New Jersey as the seventh state to offer mobile sports betting.

The state is yet to authorise other operators to launch mobile sports wagering. So far, gaming officials have received two additional requests to offer mobile betting in the state.

“I think you’re going to see more mobile sports wagering (platforms) from different providers in Indiana in the month of October,” said executive director of the Indiana Gaming Commission, Sara Gonso Tait.

Sports betting was legalised in Indiana earlier this year and is available for individuals 21 and older as of September 1.
