The Prairie Meadows Casino based in Iowa has just been slapped with another fine for allowing underage gambling at its premises. According to recent documents released by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, the casino allowed a 19-year-old teenager to gamble and order alcohol at the casino in April, without asking him for identification. This is despite the legal age for gambling and drinking in the state being 21. Read on more below!

About the Recent Fine

On April 6, 2019, the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino allowed a teenager to enter its casino premises and proceed to the room on the third floor to gamble and order alcohol.

“At approximately 7:11 pm, T.B. approached the second-floor hotel link entrance to the casino and walked past the posted security officers who failed to request identification, allowing him to enter the gaming floor unchallenged,” the commission said in the report.

“Later, the underage male “gambled at several slot machines, cashed in a ticket at the cage and consumed an alcoholic beverage given to him by an adult companion.

The minor twice entered the gaming floor unchallenged, was on the gaming floor for over an hour, gambled and consumed alcohol,” it added.

The commission charged the casino a $20 000 penalty for the incident.

Similar Incidents at Prairie Meadows Casino

Over the past year, Prairie Meadows Casino was smacked with a similar $20 000 fine for age verification failure. The property allowed a 20-year-old woman to enter its property in July 2018, without asking her to present identification. The woman spent three hours on the premises gambling and consuming alcohol without any challenges.

Prairie Meadows Casino sits at 85 000 square foot and features more than 1 700 slots and several tables. Just recently, the casino opened a sportsbook and has been offering betting services to Iowans following the legalization of sports betting in the state.
