The biggest difference in Atlantic City Blackjack, one that can be very beneficial for players, is the late surrender option. No matter where you play this game, this rule will be present. This is perhaps the single biggest difference that separates AC Blackjack from other variants.
Atlantic City Blackjack Rules
Atlantic City Blackjack is considered a version of American Blackjack. Below you’ll find some other rules that are used for AC Blackjack. Not all of these are completely unique to this version of the game, but you’ll still need to know them all.
- The dealer in Atlantic City Blackjack must stand on 17
- Any card with a value of 10 is seen as equal. Players will be able to split these cards.
- There are no restrictions when it comes to doubling. However, players must keep in mind that they can only double on the first two cards or the cards after a split.
- Players are allowed to split three times in Atlantic City Blackjack, giving them a total of four hands to play. Aces may only be split once though.
Atlantic City House Edge and Payout
Atlantic City has some great odds, and we’re sure many players will have a great time. The house edge in Atlantic City Blackjack is remarkably low, just 0.36%.
If you’re lucky enough to get a Blackjack hand, an Ace and a 10-value card, the payout is 3:2. If you manage to win an insurance bet, the payout sits at a very respectable 2:1. Any other winning hands will payout 1:1 for the player.
Atlantic City Blackjack Tips and Tricks
There are a few more things that we think players from the USA need to keep in mind when playing Atlantic City Blackjack. The game typically uses eight decks of cards in the shoe, and they will be completely reshuffled before every round. The dealer will peek at their hole card if the other card is an Ace or a 10. Here are some helpful hints to succeeding when playing Atlantic City Blackjack
The late surrender option is a way for the player to lower the house edge, but it should only be used at the correct time. It is advisable that players use the late surrender option when they have a hand value of 16 and the dealer is sitting on 9, 10, or 11. It is also a good idea to use it when they have 15, and the dealer has 10.
Should you be dealt a pair of twos or threes, wait and see what card the dealer has. Split if the dealer has a 2-7, but hit if they have anything else.
Always stand on a total of 17 or above.
The player should always split a pair of Aces. When holding a pair of 10s, don’t split, stand and take an almost certain victory.
