Before joining Las Vegas Sands, Goldstein spent about 15 years in the casino industry. He started at the Sands in Atlantic City in 1981 as director of casino marketing, then took on senior roles at Pratt Hotel Corporation.

He joined Las Vegas Sands in 1995, just ahead of The Venetian’s opening. He helped build the property’s gaming and hospitality operations. He also led the creation of the Grand Canal Shoppes, which became one of the Strip’s signature retail draws.

In 1999, Goldstein became president and COO of The Venetian and The Palazzo. He held that role until 2010. During this stretch, he pushed the resorts into entertainment and culture, adding Broadway shows and the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum.

His work on The Venetian drew attention from Asia. Sands Macao opened in 2004, starting a major expansion for the company. That same year, Goldstein led the $1.5 billion sale of The Venetian and Palazzo retail assets, a deal that reshaped Las Vegas Strip real estate.

Goldstein also led development of Sands Bethlehem in Pennsylvania. The property opened in 2009 and sold in 2019 for $1.3 billion.

In 2014, Goldstein became president and COO of Las Vegas Sands, working closely with founder Sheldon Adelson. He took over as chairman and CEO in 2021, after Adelson’s passing. Under his leadership, Sands sold its Las Vegas Strip property for $6.25 billion and sharpened its focus on Macao and Singapore.

Goldstein stepped down as chairman and CEO on March 1, 2026. Patrick Dumont, previously the company’s president and COO, succeeded him. Goldstein now serves as senior advisor through March 2028, supporting government relations, development plans, and gaming strategy.
