Rules of Caribbean Draw Poker

The rules of Caribbean Draw poker are the same as Caribbean Stud Poker. The goal of the game is to build the strongest five-card poker hand, and beat the dealer. The difference is that in Caribbean Stud Poker, you’re dealt your five cards and that is your hand. In Caribbean Draw Poker, you are able to discard up to two cards and have them replaced. The game uses traditional Poker hank rankings, ranging from a High Card, up to the Royal Flush.

Progressive Bet Option

Some casinos will also offer Caribbean Draw Poker with a progressive jackpot option. This will allow players to place a side bet that can win the progressive jackpot with a Straight Flush or Royal Flush. This progressive bet can cost as little as $1, making it an attractive option for players.

How to Play Caribbean Draw Poker

Playing Caribbean Draw Poker is easy to do. The game is simple to understand. We’ve created a step-by-step guide to help brand new players get through their first few games of Caribbean Draw Poker.

  • Step 1 – Each round of Caribbean Draw Poker begins with the player placing their first bet, known as the Ante. Once you place the bet, the round can begin.
  • Step 2 – Once the bet is placed, click the Deal button. You will be dealt five cards, along with the dealer. However, only one of dealer’s will be dealt face-up. Players then need to look at the cards they have been dealt and access the strength of their hand.
  • Step 3 – If the cards you have been dealt are too your liking, you can move on to step 4. However, if you have some weak cards, you can decide to discard them and they will be replaced. Finally, if you feel your hand is beyond saving, you can fold now and only forfeit your original bet.
  • Step 4 – Once you are happy with all your cards, it is time to decide how you want to proceed. If your hand is still too weak, you can fold. If youi think you have a good chance of winning, you will want to proceed. You will need to Raise your bet. Your second bet needs to be double what your original Ante bet was.
  • Step 5 – Now it is the dealer’s turn. The dealer can also discard up to two cards. The dealer will need to follow some simple rules to determine what cards they can discard. Some casinos might tweak these rules, but the most common versions are as follows:
    • Stand on any Five Card Pat Hands
    • Discard one card when they have four of a kind or two-pair
    • Discard two cards when the dealer has three of a kind or one pair
    • Discard one card when the dealer has a four card flush draw or a four-card straight draw
    • Discard the two lowest ranked cards when playing for a High Card hand.
  • Step 6 – Before a winner can be determined, the dealer’s hand needs to meet a minimum strength qualification. Each casino will determine what the qualify strength is, but it will always be stated on the game. Some casinos might require the dealer’s hand to have a Pair of 8s, while others might need a stronger or weaker pair. Whether the dealer’s hand qualifies or not will impact the payout the player receives, should they win.

Payouts in Caribbean Draw Poker

In Caribbean Draw Poker, the payout you receive for winning is highly dependant on two things. One, the strength of your hand, and whether the dealer’s hand qualifies or not. If the dealer’s hand does not qualify, you will receive the Ante Payout, and your Raise bet will be returned to you. Below is the payout table for all the winning hands in Caribbean Draw Poker
