New construction is underway in ANZA, Riverside County. The New Cahuilla Casino Hotel is set to replace the existing casino by 2020. Replacing the 23-year-old tent-like structure the new casino will sport a $35.2 million upgrade and should be ready for launch by spring next year.
The casino is being built on a rural landscape surrounded by pine trees and a few homes. The resort is not being built right on top of the older structure. In fact, the old casino will remain open during construction. Cahuilla has already changed its name to Cahuilla Casino Hotel on social media platforms ahead of the launch.
Details on the Cahuilla Upgrade
The new 14 000 square feet casino floor will be filled with 353 slots machines and table games. Furthermore, the new property will include a four-storey hotel with more than 50 rooms. Other amenities on the property include a restaurant, bar, fitness centre, outdoor event space as well an extended parking lot. Cahuilla casino Hotel is set to create an additional 50 jobs above the 120 that already exists. The Cahuilla Band of Indians is also planning on expending the resort to match the stands of its competitors as the new facility is will still be smaller than some the other resorts in the area.
Tribal Council chairman, Daniel Salgado, said the tribe is not trying to get a dollar quickly by building a massive structure simply to compete with others. Salgado further said, “This is more of a marathon for us and not a sprint, we’re living within our means, and we’re going to win this race for ourselves.”
Other Casino Expansions in California
The development of Cahuilla Casino Hotel comes at a time where casinos in Southern California are making an addition to their properties. Pala Casino Spa and Resort has completed a new pool complied and plans to expand their hotel. Similarly, Pechanga Resort & resort in Tenacula as also add a pool complex, hotel wing and convention center to their amenities. Three other casinos in the golden state have completed construction on their properties.
Final Thoughts
It is still unclear of what will happen with the old casino however the tribe has mentioned that it may be removed once the new casino opens and its place a new structure will be built in its place. The casino hotel will offer regular players and visitors coming from Highway 371 in Anza tons to do, see and experience. From a new restaurant, stunning hotel rooms fitted with flat tv screens, walk-in showers and separate bathtubs to space for private. Reservations for the new resort are already open.
