The Kansas City Chiefs have been set as early favorites to win Super Bowl LIV following the conclusion of the AFC and NFC Championship games. This comes despite the fact that their opponent, the San Francisco 49ers, posted a higher regular-season record and dominated the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game. Less than an hour after the match, sportsbooks such as Westgate SuperBook had already decided on a favorite.
This weekend saw the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Tennessee Titans, who had been on a bit of a giant-killing spree after ousting the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. The game saw the Chiefs come from ten points behind to notch a 35-24 win.
Kansas City Chiefs Prolific Offense Inspires Confidence
The Kansas City Chiefs have pulled some impressive victories on the road to the Super Bowl, which has inspired a lot of confidence in sportsbooks. The team has come down from deficits as big as 24 points as they tried to make their first Super Bowl appearance in fifty years.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid are said to be the two main drivers behind the success of the team. Mahomes, who was named NFL MVP last year, is pretty much expected to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory at some time or another if the numbers he is posting is anything to go by.
Although the Kansas City Chiefs seem to have an unstoppable offense, they will be going against a team with a well-prepared defense in the form of the 49ers. So, it will be interesting to see which team eventually lands up winning out.
San Francisco 49ers: Unexpected Contender
If you placed a future bet on the San Francisco 49ers at the start of the season, you’d be in for a real chance of winning big money in two weeks’ time. Many sportsbooks had the team set at odds as high +4000 to win the Super Bowl.
The reason for this is that the team had come off a season with a 4-12 record and had named Jimmy Garoppolo as their starting quarterback. Garoppolo had suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3 of last season, which arguably could be the reason the team did so badly last year.
The team could be set to win their first Super Bowl title in 26 years and the first under the leadership of head coach Kyle Shanahan. In a rare coincidence, Shanahan’s father won a Super Bowl ring with the 49ers in 1994 as the team’s Offensive Coordinator.
