A player in New York has won a rather nice jackpot while playing Three Card Poker. The player in question was gambling at the Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady, New York. While playing Three Card Poker with a progressive jackpot, they got lucky and won.
Player gets Royal Flush to Win
The lucky winner has chosen to remain anonymous after their win. While playing Three Card Poker, they decided to take an optional side bet, which would allow them to win the progressive jackpot. The player was dealt a pretty decent hand, with an Ace, King, and 10 of Spades. This hand would have been good enough for a 3-1 payout on its own.
However, luck was on the player’s side, and when the dealer’s cards were revealed, it became clear that this was not going to be a flush with a mere 3-1 payout. The dealer’s cards included a Queen and Jack of Spades. This changed the player’s hand from a flush to a Royal flush, winning them the progressive jackpot.
$20 Million Paid Out Since February
The player landed up winning themselves $497 152, but they weren’t the only one to walk away smiling. The other four players had also all taken the optional side bet to be eligible for the progressive jackpot. Because someone had won the progressive, they were awarded an envy prize, worth $5000. Not bad for simply being at the table when someone else won the jackpot.
The General Manager of Rivers Casino & Resort says that the casino has paid out nearly $20 million worth of jackpots since it opened. The gambling location opened its doors earlier this year, in February, and classifies any win of $1200 or more as a jackpot win.
The River Casino is one of three new casinos in New York, which have opened since late December. So far, all of the new casinos have been underperforming and failing to meet their earnings estimates. This is of little concern to the player who just won $500k though.
