Arizona casinos are known to be some of the best gambling destinations for players. Though Arizona is not necessarily a state that many people immediately associate with gambling, but for those who live there, there are plenty of casinos available to them.
Not only are there countless online gambling sites that Arizona gamblers can enjoy, but there are also numerous land-based casinos all over the state. There has been a fair amount of confusion with regards to gambling law in Arizona, but now that it is all cleared up, there’s nothing to stop gamblers from having a good time.
At one moment, the state was placed in tight corner when tribal casinos launched Arizona casinos, without a gambling license over 25 years ago. This resulted in Arizona fighting tribal gambling or at least negotiating favorable gaming treaties. So, they fought natives first and in the end, Arizona decided to accept the reservations that restricted betting and gaming limits. Currently, in Arizona, there are approximately 26 tribal casinos in operation today.
The Evolution of Gambling in Arizona.
The early 1990s saw quite a lot of turmoil and confusion with regards to the gambling laws in Arizona. There were a lot of changes, which confused many of the casino operators. Even some casinos that were operating slot machines, not knowing that weren’t able to run them anymore, were raided.
Thankfully, 1992 saw the state government sign a Tribal-State gaming compact. While this has no effect on online gambling, it does allow native American tribes in Arizona to run casinos on their land. The first tribe joined the compact in 1992, with a further 15 joining by 1995.
In total, the Arizona gambling industry has over 20 casinos spread out across the state. Each of these casinos is owned and managed by Arizona casinos in American tribes. The good news is that Arizona does not restrict the games on offer at these casinos, as some other states do.
Many states will limit native American casinos to just slot machines, but this is not the case in Arizona. Casinos here have a much larger range of games on offer, including slots and table games such as Blackjack and Poker.

Online Gambling
The Arizona State government seems to be quite relaxed when it comes to online gambling. There are certainly no plans for the state to set up its own casino sites or regulate the industry. However, Arizona is also not actively stopping residents from enjoying online gambling. Once again, any form of legislation with regards to casino sites would need the input of the top casinos.
Gambling in Arizona – Going Forward
The future of gambling in Arizona is looking good, although we don’t expect much to change. At this stage, it doesn’t look like the state government is going to be creating any new laws with regards to online gambling.
